Aims and Scope

 

 

Maaseudun uusi aika is a multidisciplinary journal for rural research and rural policy published since 1993.

The journal welcomes scientific articles and analysis focusing on rural change and development, which represent, but are not necessarily limited to, sociology, geography, ethnography, agriculture, forestry and environmental sciences, policy sciences and economics. The journal is especially interested in the articles related to the rural population, livelihoods and natural resources, construction of rural communities and identities, definitions and distinct meanings of the rural as well as expertise and policy. In addition, the journal publishes book reviews and conference news and provides a forum for discussion and critical comments on rural policy and development.

The Journal provides a discussion forum for rural experts; researchers, policy makers and people working for rural development, as well as anybody interested in rural issues. The Journal publishes texts in Finnish and Sweden, but three special issues have been published in English, in 1999, 2004 and 2009, which is also available as a pdf (click the link on the right hand).
